The world of banking is changing faster than ever, enjoy the best international experience in our Tech traineeship

During our two year programme, you create your own career within Tech. You learn more about the discipline Tech and about the complex Tech environment within ING. Our International Talent Programme also allows you to discover yourself through a wide selection of trainings tailored to your needs.

Make an impact as a trainee

At ING we are always broadening our horizons. Our people have a forward-thinking mentality, a strong can-do spirit and enjoy working in an agile environment. Do you want to have an impact on not only the financial lives of close to 8 million customers but also on the bank of the future? Why wait, discover how today.

As a Tech trainee you can choose from a number of important Tech projects, within which you will make a significant contribution. Now more than ever, Tech is the beating heart of ING. Terms such as artificial intelligence, fintech, blockchain, cloud, continuous delivery, API and full stack and have become part of the bank’s standard vocabulary with good reason. We have 6,6 million customers who make use of online banking, and our mobile app is among the top ten most popular apps. All departments within our organisation, such as the dealing room, work with state-of-the-art software which we develop in-house.

Your rotations

ING takes a customer-centric approach and Tech plays a crucial role in that, which is why we are looking for trainees with a real passion for Tech. Based on your own interests, you can indicate your preferences for your first rotation so that your Early career talent manager can find a suitable starting role for you. You could set to work as DevOps Engineer, IT Security Engineer, Architect, Java Developer or in the area of Cyber security, for example. These are all projects at the cutting edge of Tech and business, with an emphasis on Tech. Many of our trainees choose to spend one rotation abroad working on an international project, such as in Bucharest, Manila or Katowice. This international adventure is not only great fun but is also good for your personal and professional development.

After your first 18 months, having gained a wealth of experience, you set to work in a more permanent position where you’ll further enhance your knowledge. Your personal preferences and interests form an important starting point for the roles you fulfill. You could for example start your permanent role abroad, should this interest you.

Your benefits

Needless to say we offer you an excellent base salary for this traineeship (starters position), paid annual leave, an impressive training package and a permanent contract. But above all we offer you the chance to shape your own ideas about banking in a receptive environment and hence to make banking even simpler and more transparent for our customers. Together with other (international) trainees you will participate in global events, which will enable you to quickly build up a large network.

As a trainee you receive guidance from your line manager and your Early career talent manager (trainee manager). If you are looking for additional guidance you can ask a Senior Manager to mentor you. They will coach you, inspire you, introduce you to their network and share their knowledge and insights with you.
