Singapore is the regional headquarters for ING's Wholesale Banking (WB) business in Asia, which includes all WB business lines such as Financial Markets, Strategic Products, Sectors, Lending and Transaction Services and other support functions.

What does the Financial Markets, Business Management Team do in ING?

ING Financial Markets (FM) is the Bank’s gateway to the professional markets around the world. Our primary function is to service the needs of ING’s clients with products, services and guidance. FM aims to be a significant player in our market leader and challenger markets, with an additional presence in all the major international markets and specialist expertise in selected emerging markets and products.

The Business Management team,

  • Drives the non-execution, commercial agenda of the Financial Markets Business; from product development to entry into new markets.

  • Represent Financial Markets in discussion with internal stakeholders & internal committees.

  • Drives the Risk and Control framework within the business, ensuring a safe and secure environment, as well as ensuring compliance with an array of regulatory requirements.

What would you be doing?

You will help,

  • Produce reports for FM Management from a Sales, and Trading perspective, to allow for assessment of performance vs strategy.

  • Help in production of strategy presentations/documents

  • Develop spreadsheet tools to make processes more efficient, and allow for data processing

  • Adhoc projects examples of which can include; regulator projects, marketing animations, process reviews

  • Adhoc assistance to trading and sales on requests

What qualities, skills and other criteria are we looking for?

We are looking for a passionate individual who meets the following criteria: 

  • You should have legal work rights in the country of internship.

  • Undergraduate in an economic, finance or science/mathematical discipline

  • Previous banking internships would be an advantage

  • Highly skilled in Excel Spreadsheets, working with macros is preferred

  • Powerpoint skills to produce marketing and sales pitch books

  • Fluent in spoken and written English;

  • Detail oriented, systematic and strong analytical skills

What would you gain from this internship?

Interns leave with a broad understanding of how a banks Financial Markets division is set up and operate. Will have exposure to all asset classes across Trading and Sales, and a clearer understanding of the jobs done on these desks, and potential future career options.
