Within INGBelgium & the Netherlands, the Center of Expertise (CoE) Communications& Brand Experience is responsible for all internal and externalcommunications and brand management (including advertising and sponsoring)within Belgium and the Netherlands. The CoE reports directly to the Head ofMarket Leaders (Board Member) and the Head of the CoE has a functionalreporting line to the Global Head of Communications and Brand Experience of INGGroup.
Besides theMedia Relations department, the CoE comprises of Internal & ExternalCommunications (content, channels & advice), Corporate SocialResponsibility, Brand Experience, Advertising and Sponsoring teams.
The MediaRelations & Stakeholder Management department of ING Belgium is responsiblefor devising, developing and implementing ING’s media and public affairsstrategy. The department consists of three Press Officers who act asspokespersons and liaisons to various business units, a Public Affairs Managerfocusing on managing politicians and other special interest groups, a CommunicationsAdviser responsible for the positioning of the CEO of ING Belgium andreputation research and a Consultant for the business with regards to theimplementation of our sustainability strategy.
TheExpertise Lead Media Relations & Stakeholder Management is the primaryrepresentative foreman of the Media Relations & Stakeholder Management team and acts as the Head of MediaRelations BE for the external environment. The purpose of the team is toachieve a positive impact on ING's reputation by ensuring that media and otherexternal stakeholders feel connected to ING and know, understand and supportits vision, strategy and actions. The Expertise Lead reports to the Area LeadMedia Relations & Stakeholder Management Belgium & the Netherlands.
Actsas spokesperson for ING and/or its business units towards journalists inBelgium and other stakeholders.
Initiates,creates and coordinates press releases and other related materials.
Advisessenior management and other professionals within the organization on reputationand strategic PR aspects.
Supportsand advises senior management and other professionals within the organizationwith interviews and other media issues.
Coordinatesand prepares general and specific media training programs. Prepares presentationsand Q & A documents for media and other public meetings of seniormanagement and other key specialists within ING.
Streamliningof media contacts
Pro-activelyand reactively maintains a network of contacts with media and otherstakeholders.
Organizespress conferences, press briefings, and other meetings.
Negotiateswith journalists on conditions for interviews and negotiates with photo andfilm crews about recordings in company buildings.
Identifiesparticular publicity opportunities and risks arising from political, social andbusiness trends and developments an act on them.
Monitorsand evaluates PR efforts.
Writesinternal briefings and makes press analyses, writes bulletins, statements andscenarios.
Inconjunction with the other communication disciplines, develops, implements,monitors and evaluates communication plans.
Participatesas representative of Media Relations in squads within ING to consult andcoordinate with other (communication) disciplines.
Participatesin external working groups and consults with other companies and organizationson collaborative actions or collective issues.Team
Coachingof colleagues of the Media Relations & Stakeholder Team, to assist themfurther in their personal and expertise development.
Actas a sparring partner for members of the Media Relations & StakeholderManagement TeamThe successful candidate
Willhave extensive experience, both in communication and as a spokesperson;
Isa able to act as a trusted advisor, being familiar with discussing sensitiveinformation and issues with executives, senior managers and otherprofessionals;
Willhave worked for major businesses or media company, being at ease in a dynamicculture and will have experience in working with senior management andspecialists. Must be a good communicator internally (up and down) and a teamplayer;
Willunderstand media relations, both in a practical and strategic sense. Must beable to develop and maintain a network of media contacts and other relevantstakeholders;
Hasexperience in working with various media in a multi-channel approach includingsocial and online media, radio and television;
Mustpossess a pro-active drive, intellectual curiosity, creativity and the abilityto spot media opportunities;
Isable to combine speed and accuracy under pressure, prioritizing activities, andstaying calm under all circumstances;
Hasexcellent knowledge of spoken and written Dutch, French and English (workingknowledge of other languages would be an asset);
Hasa proven track record of motivating, inspiring and managing teams and membersof a team;
Isable to coach colleagues in the media relations and stakeholder team, to assistthem further in their personal and expertise development.
