HR

Kick start your career at the cutting edge of HR

As a HR trainee, you’ll make a real difference to our culture. You’ll help embed HR strategy throughout our organization, impacting 52,000 employees working across the globe. And you’ll start doing it all from day one.

We’re changing what it means to be a bank

As a HR trainee, you’ll make a real difference to our culture. You’ll help embed HR strategy throughout our organization, impacting 52,000 employees working across the globe. And you’ll start doing it all from day one.

Real challenges. Real responsibility

HR plays a pivotal role in helping us achieve the changes we need to make. As a HR trainee, you’ll be involved in important projects from the outset. You’ll gain expertise at the cutting edge of organizational design, talent management and performance management.

Develop your HR expertise with a true pioneer

We’re known as an innovator in finance. But we’re also leading the field in HR practices. In 2015 we adopted Agile working methods – one of the largest traditional organizations to make that shift. We’ve also transitioned to an open working culture where employees are given greater levels of trust, freedom and responsibility. And, as the first bank to offer a HR traineeship, we’re pioneers here too.

Why will this boost your career?

  • At ING, we believe in learning by doing. Directly taking on real responsibilities will accelerate your learning process and personal development.
  • At ING, we believe in teamwork. To be a leader and a team player in a large organisation, you need to understand how teams work. That is why we want to give you an understanding of several teams in the different strategic departments of the bank for you to become a future professional leader within our company. Cooperation and communication are important skills which you will be able to develop.
  • At ING, we believe in the importance of finding the right balance between autonomy and support. You immediately receive responsibilities and, in addition to the support provided by your direct manager (an ING role model), you will also be supported through intensive training. You can also count on a Talent Manager to guide you through the entire program. You will act independently within a transparent framework of responsibilities and tasks.
  • At ING, we believe that you can learn from our leaders. That is why you will be offered to be part of a mentorship program.
    Your mentor will help you to build a network in the organization and to find your way within the world of ING
  • At ING, we believe in constructive relationships and networks. You will have plenty of opportunities to work closely with different people –including top management- with diverse experiences and backgrounds. You will also be in very close contact with your fellow participants in the traineeship.

    ?The International Talent Program

    The International Talent Program is dedicated to top graduates and puts them on an exclusive journey to acquire in-depth knowledge of the bank. It is a tailor-made 18 months program within six different tracks, all focused on three pillars:
    Experience: an international multi-business line journey, including various assignments in Belgium and one abroad;
    Education: a whole set of trainings involving technical and behavioral skills (hard and soft skils), as well as individual trainings if needed;
    Exposure: full support by our Senior Management while taking part in highly strategic projects.
