 IT Chapter Lead

Your role & workenvironment

You are an energetic ChapterLead with people management responsibilities, deep knowledge in a particularapplication, infrastructure or architecture-related topic.

You are at least a competentEngineer, Feature Engineer or Architect and this will be your role in the squadfor approximately half of your time.

The remaining part of your timeyou spend on building up expertise in your chapter and developing your chaptermembers. You are enthusiastic about transferring your knowledge to others, andabout coaching around approximately 10 members of your Chapter and overseetheir personal development

Your key responsibilities

Creating and safeguardingthe 'new' culture

Has anactive role in effecting the culture change. Functions as an ambassador forculture change and is a role model in terms of the new way of working: from 'anorganization talking' to 'an organization doing'.

Facilitates insights and actions from individualsand the team for self-development and for maintenance of a high level ofperformance.


Achieve and manage ITmaturity and the squad's mission

Has an up-to-date vision regarding ITexpertise and keeps abreast of developments:

Stay upto date on your topic and apply your learnings in your specific context,

Regularlyorganize alignment meetings on chapter specific topics to update colleagues onnew developments;

Define standards and best practices forthe chapter.

Is recognized as an competent in his orher field.


Spends approximately half of the timeworking as an Engineer, Feature Engineer or Architect.


Development and facilitationin the hierarchical line

Isresponsible for the personal development and evaluation of his/her chaptermembers, based on input from the Product Owner, the Agile Coach and individualsquad members.

Encourages his/her chapter members todevelop themselves and facilitates this. Provides coaching both in terms ofprofessional and of personal development. Constantly ensures development ofindividual members' expertise:

Ensurestraining opportunities are available as required.

Identifies top performance and takesaction at an early stage for underperformance.

Discusses both the progress and thedevelopment needs of the chapter as a whole the IT Area Lead.


Supports recruiting of talents (e.g.interview applicants)

Resource planning

Discusses resource planning for a squadand chapter as a whole with the IT Area Lead and product Owner.

Knowledge sharing

Ensuresapplication of standards in his/her own area of IT expertise.

Shares relevant insights/developments inhis/her own IT expertise with members of his/her own and possibly also otherchapters.


Together with the Product Owner and AgileCoach, he/she is a key member of the Product Owner, Chapter Lead and AgileCoach (POCLAC) sessions, where ways to optimize performance and improvement ofcapabilities of the squad are discussed

Experience and specialized knowledge

On top of the experience andspecialized knowledge related to its function as Engineer, Feature Engineer orArchitect, the IT Chapter Lead:

has experience in both engineering andleadership roles in Agile teams


has experience in functional management(output management).


has strong analytic skills.


has experience in management based onhard and soft data.


has knowledge of the business of theTribe you work in.


Education and Professionalcertifications

 The IT Chapter Lead is atleast a competent Engineer, Feature Engineer or Architect, and has theeducation and professional certifications required for those functions.
