Security Monitoring Analyst

The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Security Monitoring Analyst to join our IT Risk & Security team.  You will act as an IT security expert for ING Australia and will be responsible for many facets of information security within the bank.  Working closely with our IT operations team, you will ensure that all ING system vulnerabilities and weaknesses are identified and tracked to closure.  You will be responsible in driving changes to improve ING’s security posture through a mix of tactical and strategic security initiatives.


In order to succeed in this role, you will have experience in working with the following security technologies:

  • Firewalls
  • Anti-Virus
  • Server Operating Systems (Windows / Linux)Vulnerability & compliance scanning tools
  • Security Information and Event Management Systems
  • Password and Privileged Access Management systems
  • Knowledge of scripting languages
  • Perform security event investigation, analysis, tracking, response and reporting of suspected and actual incidents to relevant stakeholders in accordance with security incident management process
  • Proactively search and identify security issues on the ING network, and identify improvements opportunities
  • Investigate and implement new detection methods to keep up to date with current and the latest attack vectors
  • Develop, maintain and optimise locally maintained toolset alerting rules, and dashboards in log archiving system
  • Assist in various BAU tasks within the team, including but not limited to firewall rule change approvals, general change management approvals, internet proxy support, McAfee support etc.
About You
  • 2-4 years’ experience in working within IT, Security Operations Centre (SOC) desirable
  • Technical certifications (e.g. SANS, CISSP) will be highly regarded
  • Ability to produce professional reports and communicate technical issues in non-technical terms in written or verbal form
  • Ability to work with large volumes of data and to identify trends/regular patterns within a monitored environment, identifying unusual activities throughout the process
