The Opportunity

The Senior Operational Risk Manager is a 2nd LoD role that manages all facets of the operational risk framework through implementation, enhancement and ongoing review. You will act as the first point of contact for the business in operational risk management and will have thorough knowledge of banking products, end to end customer processes and those relating to business support functions (i.e. Operations). 


You will be responsible in advising 1st LoD, including our senior management team about new/updated Global NFR Policies, Minimum Standards and Procedures, and monitor/challenge their (timely) implementation in ING Bank Australia. 

 
You will act as a relationship manager and drive a culture of risk management and ownership throughout the organisation, enabling business to operate within its own risk appetite and hold sufficient capital for its operational risks.


Responsibilities

  • Act as the Risk lead on all large projects and co-ordinate risk resource allocation on smaller programmes of change
  • Challenges (Devil’s Advocate) and approves the completion of Risk Identification & Assessments in the 1st LoD and monitors comprehensiveness and quality of execution
  • Provides risk knowledge on the business process and (inherent) non-financial risks
  • Prepare own desk research for BEA by analysing significant changes in rules and regulations, statutory, economic, political, social or technological changes and trends regarding non-financial risks in the financial industry
  • Keeping abreast of industry threats, trends and issues, ensuring that IBAL’s risk management frameworks are in line with industry and international best practice
About You
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Operational Risk, Audit or Compliance 
  • Ability to influence change and decisions impacting all areas of the Bank.
  • Understanding of prudential compliance requirements of ADIs (including APS 114, 115, 231, 232 and SOX)
  • Ability to identify and pursue solutions to manage operational risks
  • Awareness of current industry threats, trends and issues that potentially affect the Bank's business
