Outstanding salary and benefits
ING leads the way with its outstanding employment conditions and benefits
At ING, we consider it essential that our employees have access to all the facilities which enable them to do their jobs properly and that they can continually work on their own personal development. Needless to say, that includes attractive terms of employment. We believe it is fair to say that the employment conditions and benefits we offer really set us apart from the rest. In several respects, we truly stand out and set an example for other companies.
As an ING employee, you will receive an excellent salary. We do not offer any additional financial incentives which could be in conflict with our customers’ interests. In view of changing social perspectives, external regulations and signals from our customers and staff alike, ING has decided on a remuneration policy which involves a basic salary only.
Within ING, we work with a system of continual planning, coaching and assessment which allows you to improve your own performance while contributing to greater success for the company too. This system revolves around results-oriented and development-oriented targets. When agreeing on the targets, we take into account the interests of everyone involved, but first and foremost those of our customers and employees. We define the desired result, its relevance and how we can achieve it. We regularly check whether we are still on track along the way. And we take this approach throughout the entire company, including in your business unit, your department and your team. Your own personal results are evaluated too. Your manager maintains an overview and guides you in the right direction. You receive the freedom to put your talents to good use and devise your own solutions to attain your goals. This proactive working relationship in which both you and your manager are equally involved delivers tangible results. The relationship is based on mutual trust; you agree on targets together. Your achievements are evaluated fairly.
More choice about your salary payments with the ‘Keuze Budget’
From January 2014 you will have the freedom to decide when you receive certain portions of your salary, thanks to the ‘Keuze Budget’. Each month this budget allows you to choose, for instance, whether you would like to receive part – or perhaps all – of your holiday allowance or 13th month.
At ING, we believe in proactive employees who have sufficient self-awareness to know where their own talents lie and who work in a role that they enjoy – because doing things that you’re good at boosts your energy and makes you happy. To help our employees fulfil their own potential, we offer a wide range of personal development programmes. In addition, there are also various job-related training courses and programmes available within ING.
Travel card or company car
As an ING employee you can apply for a free travel card allowing you unlimited use of public transport all year round – including for non-business related travel. If you prefer, you can receive a subsidy of your travel costs instead. In certain cases, you may be eligible for a company car.
Discounts on ING products and special offers
While working at ING, you can enjoy the benefit of many discounts on ING’s range of products and services. You receive attractive discounts on your insurance and banking services.
As an ING employee you can also take advantage of special rates and packages at hotels and holiday parks, as well as discounts via a number of travel companies. You receive great special deals on days out and tickets for theatre shows, theme parks or museums as well as attractive discounts in various webshops.
The ‘New Approach to Working’
The ‘New Approach to Working’ at ING means that you can largely decide for yourself when and where you work. You choose which task you want to work on at any given time, and decide where best you can do it – at home, somewhere in one of ING’s office buildings, or externally. You’re given the latest technology to enable you to connect to the ING network, wherever you are.
This means that you have more freedom, and also responsibility, to plan your own workload in order to achieve a better work-life balance while fulfilling all the objectives you’ve set together with your team and your manager.
Why have we opted for the ‘New Approach to Working’ at ING? Because it is an excellent fit with the ING strategies of Customer Centricity, striving to be a ‘Top Employer’ and delivering high quality at low costs.
At ING you start building your pension on the day you join the company. Payment of the basic contribution is shared between employer and employee: ING pays two thirds of it and the employer one third (the employee’s contribution increases after a number of years). ING also pays the supplementary risk premium.
The amount of pension you receive is based on your average salary* with an increase of 2% per year.
*The old pension rule, under which your pension amount is based on your salary in your final year at the company, will remain in force until 1 January 2014.
