  • Food Beverage & Agri (FB&A) represents one of ING’s growth initiatives. We are a sector team part of Commodities, Food & Agri consisting of professionals with in-depth expertise in the food and agriculture segments and we service the primary producers, processors in these segments across Europe, Americas and Asia Pacific.

  • Our FB&A team in EMEA is a coverage team for investment grade and non-investment grade companies that operate across the spectrum of agriculture and food-related products including dairy, beverages (e.g. beer and coffee), sugar, grains and oilseeds, fruit & vegetables, ingredients, bakery and confectionary, plant based, animal protein and more.

  • As a coverage team, we work closely with other product teams (e.g. Lending, Transaction Services, Capital Markets & Advisory, Client Services, etc.) in order to offer the best possible client solution while ensure a superior customer experience.

  • As a sector we are highly involved in sustainability related projects and we aim to be in pioneer in setting standards and engaging with our clients on food transitioning to net zero and Nature related topics As such we work closely together with Group Sustainability and Sustainable finance and are participating / leading thought leadership events around sustainability in the food industry.

Department Overview

As part of the FB&A EMEA sector team you will be based in Amsterdam. Together with other FB&A professionals you will be responsible for developing and directing FB&A EMEA’s client portfolio, in line with our overarching Wholesale Banking strategy. The team is amongst others accountable for the P&L, risk/return and cross-buy ratio of FB&A clients in the EMEA region, either as Sector Bankers (mainly covering Dutch corporate clients) or as a member/deal captain within a virtual client team for specific FB&A clients and transactions across the EMEA region.

Your Roles and Responsibilities

As an Analyst / Associate you support our Sector Bankers in managing the Dutch FB&A portfolio and support specific transactions out of the EMEA network. Your knowledge will be applied  to provide our clients with a full spectrum of financial services and products. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing (financial) analyses on clients, sectors, and peers in an international environment

  • Collecting client and sector information and analyzing this information in order to provide tailor made client solutions

  • Actively participate in the preparation of financial models, client pitch books and client briefings

  • Developing and applying in depth sector/industry/product knowledge to grow or strengthen relationships with prospective and existing clients

  • Supporting the Sector Bankers in originating and coordinating new business, while monitoring returns and profitability, and contribute to realizing the teams’ objectives and KPIs

  • Working with the virtual client teams on preparing, executing and monitoring of account plans

  • Collaborating closely with all product teams within ING Wholesale Banking (e.g. Transaction Services, Capital Markets & Advisory, Lending, Client Services, etc.) to ensure superior client experience

  • Having regular contact with the client on its day-to-day business

  • Sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusiveness, client focus, continuous improvement and innovation

Candidate Profile:

Key criteria

  • Minimum of two years working experience

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills

  • Interest in sustainability – being one of three strategic pillars in ING

  • Knowledge of/affinity with financial modelling

  • Knowledge of IT applications (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

  • Commercial drive and strong interest in financial services

  • Excellent verbal and written skills both in English and Dutch

  • Preferably an Academic master’s degree

  • A person with strong analytical and organizational skills, that can process requests with diligence and speed

  • Able to work under pressure and prioritize tasks

  • A collaborative spirit and strong team player

  • A person with a client focused mindset able to understand and cater client needs
