About the position:
As a DevOps Lead you will function in our stream aligned team and work in a cross-cutting role driving advancement in our engineering practices. You will lead by example and coach others to develop their skills in multiple technology areas (e.g., quality engineering, application testing, site-reliability, security, cybercrime, software development, data etc.). In addition, you will be a hands-on engineer who can take tasks on and deliver alongside the team.
Reporting to the IT Area Lead, you will play a key role in the continual advancement of our engineering mastery and practices such as Agile, Continuous Delivery and Team Topologies. Joining our dynamic team, you will be responsible for the delivery of business features, and working software is your primary measure of progress and success.
About the department:
ING Americas Tech is the support backbone and catalyst for new and innovative solutions that drive growth for both internal and external customers. We strive to bring technical expertise and business knowledge together to support a wide range of business products. The Stream Aligned Team is focused on supporting the Americas Wholesale Banking business, such as Financial Markets, Lending & Capital Markets, maintaining systems in collaboration with global teams, and building and maintaining local applications as applicable. The DevOps Engineers work with the infrastructure, technology operations and other cross-functional teams to support US businesses.
Responsibilities:
As a Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Setting the standards and taking responsibility for developing, innovating, and safeguarding knowledge and expertise
- Contributing to a high-performing culture and agile organization
- Taking the lead in self-development by staying abreast of industry trends and sharing your knowledge with your direct reports
- Coaching and mentoring your direct reports
As a hands-on DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Deployment via pipelines, automation, management, and maintenance of cloud-based production systems
- Ensuring availability, performance, security, and scalability
- Evaluating innovative technology alternatives and vendor products
- Troubleshooting system/production issues and performing pre-production acceptance testing
- Designing and maintaining systems for metrics, logging, and monitoring
- Creating IT risk and security artifacts like pen testing, security assessments, Identity and access management processes, Disaster recovery etc.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent experience in related field
- Proven record of accomplishment in successfully managing software projects & teams throughout the complete project lifecycle in an agile organization
- Passionate about growing and developing engineers
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong organizational sensitivity and the ability to understand and consider the underlying issues, opportunities, and dynamics of the cross-border organization
- Continuous improvement mind-set
Proficiency required:
- Programming Languages: Java, C++, C#, VB.NET
- Scripting – Python, PowerShell, JavaScript
- Pipeline development – YAML
Knowledge required:
- Database SQL – PL/SQL, MSSQL
- UI development – Tomcat, IIS
Preferred:
- Automation tools – Automation Anywhere, PowerAutomate, PowerBI
- Ability to create microservices and containerize the services
Salary range: $175,000-$210,000
