ING Bank NV – Milan Branch, is searching for a talented VP to work within the Wholesale Banking Energy Sector team in Milan for a maternity replacement.
The resource will join a team of 8 and will report into the Head of Energy Italy. The position is full time, with office located in Milan and possibility to work partly from home.
The Energy team in Milan is part of ING Global Energy Sector Coverage which covers the entire energy value chain across: (i) Renewables & Power, including batteries, (ii), Utilities and (ii) Hydrocarbons and New Energies, including CCUS, hydrogen and biofuel.
The Milan team is fully integrated with the global Energy platform and provides international and domestic clients operating in the Italian market with tailor made financing solutions, across the full spectrum of financing structures, from general corporate banking products to non-recourse long-term project financing, with a strong focus on Renewable and New Energies financings.
Key responsibilities
ING is committed to a client-centric approach. You will be working in a dynamic client-facing team of highly dedicated Energy professionals.
The position entails regular contact with clients, prospects, banks, advisors as well as active cooperation with internal departments such as credit risk management, legal, middle and back office, loan capital markets and distribution departments.
As Energy team member You will be responsible for:
New Deal Origination / Execution: Support and contribute to origination, structuring and execution of corporate and project financings, with a specific focus on execution of Renewable and New Energies transactions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
(i) preparation of marketing/pitch material for new financing opportunities,
(ii) risk/return analysis of potential financings,
(iii) developing/reviewing project finance debt models,
(iv) performing due diligence analysis, preparing internal approvals documents (commercial memos, credit applications / analysis and ancillary documents) as well as negotiation of legal documentation and support to drawdowns and closing mechanics in cooperation with back office colleagues,
(v) onboarding of clients/ borrowers including conducting KYC,
(vi) actively engaging and collaborating with colleagues from other departments, including corporate finance, debt advisory and structuring, debt capital markets, financial markets, loan capital markets, transaction services,
(vii) monitoring sector, market and technological developments, building a solid understanding of the Energy sector in close collaboration with (cross border) Energy team members
Portfolio Management: Monitoring of the loan portfolio with certain level of autonomy, which includes preparing and processing annual credit reviews, preparing and processing loan modification/amendment requests, tracking covenant compliance and maintaining internal portfolio tracking metrics, reviewing legal documentation, maintaining credit files and loan documentation, reviewing and processing borrowing and disbursement requests, renewing internal risk ratings, preparing quarterly watchlist reports for distressed/provisioned credits, and preparing periodic pipeline and profitability reports. Role involves frequent interface with internal stakeholders (risk).

You will also need following qualifications:
§ University degree in Economics, Engineering, Math
§ 5-7 years of relevant project/corporate finance lending experience ideally in Energy transactions;
§ High level of self-motivation and commercial drive;
§ Ability to perform under tight deadlines preserving quality and good attention to details;
§ Strong analytical skills;
§ Strong Excel skills and ability to independently work and build financial debt projection models;
§ Flexible and global mindset;
§ Authentic and confident presentation and communication skills;
§ High proficiency in English (verbal & written)
§ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally
§ Mixed experience in both corporate analysis and project financing is considered a plus
