Tailored for you

The ING IT Class programme gives talented IT graduates like you the grounding to become top IT specialists. The IT Class has been specially tailored for recent graduates with a technical master’s degree or PhD who have set their sights on reaching the top of the IT profession. We give starters with the right amount of drive and talent the opportunity to make a smooth transition from academic life to working as an IT engineer.

Expect to be challenged

You’ll learn a huge amount – not only about the various aspects of IT within ING, but also about banking and finance, which is a world with its own specific challenges. There is a strong focus on your professional and personal development. In parallel, you will gain extensive work experience by doing several rotations within different teams on very varied projects. At the end of the one-year IT Class programme, subject to satisfactory performance, you can expect to be offered a permanent role within ING.

An international work environment

The IT organization is located in Amsterdam, but is very internationally oriented. Business and IT professionals work together in agile squads. Your fellow squad members are results-oriented, self-motivated professionals. They are committed to delivering optimally functioning software and keeping our systems reliable at all times.

An exciting and intensive journey

You have one clear goal in the first year: to gain maximum experience during an exciting and intensive journey within the bank. Your first year consists of four assignments: three personal rotations in three different agile squads within various IT and business domains, and one group assignment. You and your fellow IT Class members will work in small groups on a specific innovative project. At the end of the two months, you will deliver a working product, which you will pitch to senior management during a special IT Class event.

What will you be doing?

Your skills can add value in countless different domains within the bank: financial markets, lending, payments, channels, finance, reporting and cash pooling solutions for Wholesale Banking customers, to name but a few. You will work in line with continuous delivery and continuous integration principles. Our system’s landscape involves in-house development, configuration of vendor solutions (including usage of their domain-specific languages), extensive automation of processes and data analysis, and many innovative new products.

These are just some examples of what you might be working on:

  • Real-time pricing systems, covering equity, fixed income and FX asset classes
  • Payment engines and order managers (handling real-time or batch processing)
  • Portal & omnichannel development, achieving the best user experience
  • Cyberfraud prevention
  • High performance computing
  • (Open) API development
  • Automation of tests and operational procedures
  • Site reliability engineering
