Java DevOps Engineer - ING Group Services / Data & Reporting
We're searching for a highly experienced senior engineer to join our TracING squad in the Data & Reporting Tribe.
TracING, short for Trading Risk Assessment & Computation@ING, is responsible for collecting, enhancing, storing, and distributing market data. Our users are risk managers involved in internal and external reporting.
We're in the process of modernizing and consolidating our existing systems, which have been built over the past 20 years. Our goal is to create a simple, consistent, and modern architecture. As part of the team, you'll sometimes dig into old code like an archeologist and other times design the future landscape as an architect. Each day presents new challenges, including troubleshooting, coding, process automation, and continuous learning.
Our primary technology is Java, and we also work with SQL, APIs, shell scripting, Azure, LitHtml, and Web Components.
We primarily work remotely, utilizing tools like MS Teams, Azure boards, Git, and Confluence. We follow the Scrum process and deliver our work in two-week sprints, with regular minor releases.
Our team consists of a product owner, a business analyst, and 8 engineers, with one engineer acting as the Scrum Master. We're a diverse group that thrives on continuous improvement, innovation, and learning.
Typically, we come into the office once a week, occasionally combining it with social events once or twice a month.
As part of Group Services, our work spans across all ING countries, but we generally don't require work outside regular office hours.
However, we participate in a disaster recovery exercise twice a year, which involves a few hours of work outside of office hours for two team members.
We're seeking a senior engineer who can lead when necessary. Our roadmap involves migrating to Spring Boot, APIs, and Openshift. If you love Java and enjoy coaching your peers on architecture and best practices, you'll fit right in.
Here are the skills and knowledge we expect:
Advanced knowledge of Java 8, with a preference for familiarity with Java 11 and beyond.
Understanding of functional programming.
Experience with various Spring modules, including Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and Spring Data JPA/JDBC.
Proficiency in developing Web Applications and implementing SOAP/RESTful APIs.
Knowledge of Azure DevOps and working with pipelines.
Familiarity with the Hibernate Framework.
Understanding of messaging platforms such as Kafka, EMS, ActiveMQ, and/or IBM MQ.
Strong skills in writing Unit and Integration Tests using Junit.
Experience with container technologies like Docker, K8S, or OpenShift.
Comfortable using basic Linux commands and bash scripting.
Ability to work with relational databases and SQL.
Design and development of automated unit, integration, and regression tests.
Knowledge in designing and building Rest-JSON APIs, SOA, and Event-Driven Designs.
Experience or interest in IT security concepts.
It's a plus if you have any of the following:
Domain knowledge in Market Risk.
Previous experience with ING, including familiarity with Touchpoint Architecture products like Merak and APISDK.
If you're a skilled senior engineer who is passionate about technology and wants to contribute to the modernization of our data and reporting systems, we'd love to hear from you. Join our team and help shape the future of our organization.
