Senior Java Engineer

ING is looking for a Senior Java Engineer who will be joining an experienced 8-personDevOps team within the Global IT Operations tribe of Infrastructure and Engineering.

The Senior Java Engineer we are looking for is excited to contribute to reporting and monitoring of IT Systems across the bank, by helping develop the availability reporting service on our Global platform..  Does helping provide a reliable, accurate, continuously secure and customer friendly environment to our stakeholders sound interesting to you? Global Monitoring Data Pipeline

The Global Monitoring Data Pipeline is the target platform for IT Systems observability signals within ING Globally. The pipeline offers standardized collection and processing of metric, log and trace data in OpenTelemetry format for a large number of consumers across the organization. Within this platform, the MDPL-Processing provides integration, enrichment, and transformation capabilities, involving machine learning models like anomaly detection and timeseries forecasting. Our platform consists of (among others) Kafka, OpenShift and Azure DevOps, combined with Python-based models.  

Roles and responsibilities 

You will be working in a Dev-Ops squad on a Global platform. This means working on cross border solutions and providing services to ING worldwide. The availability reporting service has a backend and dedicated frontend, and is built to be fast, reliable and modular. With the squad you are end-to-end responsible for the customer journey you are working on. You own the stack and the journey! 

Your daily work will consist of: 

  • Refinement of stories 

  • Coding

  • Reviewing 

  • Testing (Automated) 

  • Building and deploying  

  • Monitoring

  • Java and Spring(Boot) 

  • Secure and clean coding 

  • Monitoring (Grafana, ELK) 

  • Agile & Scrum

Nice to have 

  • Experience in a Site Reliability Engineering context

  • Affinity with availability monitoring

  • Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines 

  • Cassandra

  • Kubernetes, Openshift 

  • Kafka

  • Domain Driven Design (DDD)

  • Behavior Driven Development (BDD)
