Walk us through your career path in ING

I joined the Data Quality team in ING Tech Romania one year ago as DevOps Engineer. Together with my team we develop and improve the global framework of data quality.

How is Life @ ING? (Especially from a learning experience point of view)

My favorite project was the automation of task generation in Datastage. It helped me learn new things and step out of my comfort zone.

How does a day in the life of a Development Engineer look like?

Although we work on some long-standing projects, we also take on tasks that are not recurrent and keep us from getting into a routine.

This work from home period made me miss the direct interaction with my colleagues but we compensate by meetings and video calls.

I try to stick to the schedule I had when we were going to the office. It’s not always easy, but I think life-work balance is important.

If you could describe your role using 3 technologies/platforms what would you chose?

The technologies I like and use the most are InfoSphere Information Server for ETL, shell scripting for automation and Information Governance Catalog for metadata governance.

How would you explain your job of Development Engineer to a 7-year-old?

My role in ING Tech Romania is to ensure that processed data meets quality conditions.

If you were to recommend ING to a friend, what would you say about the organization?

In fact, I recommended it to some friends. I speak highly of the people, the work atmosphere and the fact that you are encouraged and supported to develop professionally and step out of your comfort zone.

If you were to save the world with an app…

I would like to develop an app that allows us to use a fast-universal language for people so that they can communicate with each other easily and efficiently.

What does `do your thing` mean for you?

For me, `Do Your Thing` is about bringing my contribution to generating ideas and solutions for various activities.
