Walk us through your career path in ING (from your first role to the current one)

I started as project manager in ING Wholesale Banking almost 9 years ago. Soon after, the opportunity appeared to participate in a major technical project. I continued with assignments specific to different areas of banking until being entrusted to lead a major core-banking upgrade. It was a "one of a kind" opportunity with an amazing team. This was an eye opener for me in terms of career path, so I moved towards IT and joined ING Tech Romania.

Now, together with my team, we bring our contribution to the global ING strategy by implementing transformation programs that change the way we do banking, by following Agile guidelines in our way of working and by integrating new capabilities that help us always be one step ahead.

How is Life @ ING? (especially from a learning experience point of view)

Each project is unique. It is not necessarily the project that brings the learning experience, but the team you are part of. I've always enjoyed projects that combine streams from different areas (business, operations, legal, procurement etc.), each one with its view on the end goal.

In addition, I consider extremely interesting the projects built around multicultural teams, where team members from different cultures find their common rhythm and collaborate successfully.

How would you explain your role as the Head of Transition Management to a 7-year-old?

I do have to provide this explanation at home, as well :-). I've told my son that we are building an intricate Lego construction, without knowing all the details from the manual, which makes things more interesting. You have to bring a lot of people together, each one with his own set of pieces, in order to succeed. My role is to coordinate with others in making sure the pieces we need are there at the right moment and that the players understand at all times what the state of the construction is.

If you were to recommend ING to a friend, what would you say about the organization?

Collaborative, daring, diverse, young and well-balanced.

If you were to save the world with an app…

Call me old-fashioned, but before saving the world with an app I would begin by adding to the educational curriculum different topics as: ecological awareness, teamwork and collaboration training, multicultural diversity awareness, self-understanding, social responsibility.

Let’s say you wrote your first SF book. What would you call it?

"The big discovery". I believe that humanity has not yet reached its full potential, so it would be cool to imagine the breakthroughs the future will bring.
