Walk us through your career path in ING

I joined ING 6 years ago as a Senior Java Developer and had this role until 2015 in “Tiger” Team; during that time I have collaborated with the Belgian teams.

In 2017 I got involved in TouchPoint platform as a Chapter Lead for the “Rebels” Team. In this time span we worked closely with our colleagues in the Netherlands. Since 2018 I’ve been TouchPoint Platform-Security Engineering Lead.

How is Life @ ING? (Especially from a learning experience point of view)

My favourite ING project is {Dev}School; {Dev}School is part of a long-term strategy and has been conceived as an educational short-term programme (6-8 weeks), offered to senior and Master’s students in Cybernetics or Automatics and Computers Sciences. This is how we support the professional growth of youngsters interested in tech and how we sometimes discover potential future colleagues.

Through this programme ING Tech gained a lot of talented newbies who joined the company fresh out of university. I was very happy to welcome no less than 6 new Dev{School} graduates in the Rebels team.

How would you explain your role as a Security Engineering Lead to a 7-year-old?

It’s not an easy thing to do, so I guess I’d focus on the end results of my team’s work: “we take good care of the money so that they don’t fall into the villains’ hands.

If you were to recommend ING to a friend, what would you say about the organisation?

I’d describe ING with these 5 words that have a lot of meaning for me: learning – global - family – friends – fun."

If you were to save the world with an app…

I am an upbeat person and also a social activist. I like to believe that the world will be a better place if only we’d make it this way. This is why I truly think that it would be useful for humankind to have an app that would give people a push to get involved in civic causes.

Let’s say you wrote your first SF book. What would you call it?

"The New World"
