How was the {Dev}School experience?

{Dev}School was awesome! I would do it again anytime! Besides learning new things, I was impressed by the involvement of ING people. From HR to the trainer in my edition (Marcela Filip) and her team leader. Nice and joyful people! We had many fun surprises during our courses. For example, they brought us helium balloons, homemade cookies, we went out and played board games.

After our graduation, ING invited me to an interview. I was selected and had the chance to choose one of the teams who wanted a junior.

Why would you recommend {Dev}School to a student?

I always recommend {Dev}School to students, because it has brought me lots of benefits. {Dev}School was an interactive learning experience where I had the chance to practice what I studied at school and acquire new knowledge. I had an amazing trainer (thank you, Marcela!) and last but not least, {Dev}School got me a job that really makes me happy.

How is life at ING?

ING people are energetic, smart and sociable. I'm really happy to see that ING promotes teamwork and the idea of helping those around you evolveAlso, all the managers are friendly and ready to help anytime.

Data Lake Foundation is contributing to the development and deployment of a Data Lake platform that serves the need for multiple domains / countries to report at group level. My role in the team is to build a framework used by Data Lakes in ING. For this I use the InfoSphere Information Server stack for the ETL part, the Information Governance Catalog for metadata governance, various databases, mostly Oracle, many scripting for automation and packaging: Python, Ansible, Shell Scripting, and various deployment tools, such as: Git, Jenkins, Artifactory. We work in Cloud and we offer our clients an end-to-end solution that we continually improve.

The project is very dynamic, so I expect to learn new things and I hope I’ll have the opportunity to experiment with other technologies soon. The trend is to introduce into the Data Lake tools from the Big Data landscape, which makes me think we will start playing with Hadoop, Cassandra, ELK, Kafka, Atlas.

How would you explain your role in ING to a 10-year-old?

I would say that I write a series of commands that the computer understands and as a result, it provides me with the requested information.

If you were to save the world with an app…

I would like to save the world with an app that reminds people to keep it, not to be afraid of anything, to enjoy the most important things: health, family, people around, nature's beauty. In other words, I would like to be able to increase the number of happy people and reduce the number of depressed people.

Let’s say you wrote your first SF book. What would you call it?

Diversity of the Universe

Describe in just 5 words the most recent picture in your phone.

Friendship, childhood, reunion, emotions, memories.
