Your role & work environment

As Senior Relationship Manager, you develop and maintain the relationship with our corporate clients. You will manage a mixed portfolio of both corporate clients and family offices and will be the clients’ primary contact person within ING. You have strategic discussions with your client’s Treasurer, CFO and arrange senior management meetings on CEO or board level.

The team you will join is the Corporate  Coverage team in Luxembourg, consisting of following sectors: Technology Media Telecom & Healthcare, Commodities, Food & Agri, , Corporate Sector Coverage (e.g. Manufacturing & Heavy Industry).

Your key responsibilities

Commercial attitude

  • You’re willing to invest in a long-term relationship with our clients and prospects in order for ING to become their primary bank
  • You’re result driven and look for healthy growth of your portfolio revenues
  • You spot business opportunities in your conversations with your clients and organise pitches to generate business and reinforce ING’s competitive position

Stakeholder management

  • You have effective networking and relationship building skills allowing to quickly build trust with senior leaders and clients, to ensure smooth transactions and processes
  • You’re the captain of the virtual client team, coordinating activities with product specialists and / or with local relationship managers abroad. You take ownership and make it happen
  • You have 1st line of defence responsibilities: You ensure relevant client reporting, holding credit, operational and compliance risks at the highest standards by supporting the completion of KYC processes

Objectives

  • You monitor your client profitability and the realization of your portfolio KPIs & team objectives
  • You avoid underperforming assets in your portfolio by locking in cross-sell opportunities and making careful considerations when being presented a lending opportunity
  • You participate to the wider sector initiatives or improvement projects, and actively contribute to making the Sector coverage a better and more efficient organisation.

As a Senior Relationship Manager you will also need:  

  • Academic degree / MBA in finance, economics, law or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a commercial role, proven track record of origination capabilities and deal making
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English, French, German and/or Dutch in addition is an advantage
  • You have a good product knowledge and know the majority of: lending, leasing, working capital solutions, payments & cash management, custody services, trade financial services, BMG, Corporate finance, equity capital markets, debt capital markets, financial markets. You preferably have relevant experience in originating & executing (some of) these products.
  • Experience with corporate clients is an advantage
  • To give and ask for constructive feedback
  • The ability to get things done effectively and efficiently
  • To be a team player who loves to gain, deepen and share knowledge
