In this role you will be instrumental in shaping the future of learning at ING. You’ll be a key leader within our NL T&L and global Growth & Careers team, helping to build and transform learning at ING. You will be tasked to facilitate the growth and development of our people, ensuring they - and ING - are resilient and future-proof. 

The team  

ING Netherlands's Growth & Careers team is part of the broader Talent & Learning team that ensures we can attract, develop, engage and retain the most talented people and help them grow and develop with ING.  

The Netherlands Growth & Careers team enables ING’s business strategy by facilitating the development of our people, ensuring they- and ING- are resilient and future-proof. We focus on delivering a truly engaging, employee-focused career offer for all our people, plus targeted development for key talent segments and create solutions to upskill and reskill as our business evolves. This includes an integrated leadership development path for all levels from first time managers through senior leaders, making sure our leaders stay relevant and leading in the industry.

Reporting to our Talent & Learning CoE Lead Netherlands and functionally into the Global Head of Growth & Careers, you will be working closely with your peers in the broader Growth & Careers teams in the Netherlands and global, as well as the HRBP community in the Netherlands.  

Roles and responsibilities  

As Growth & Careers lead you set the standard on career growth and (leadership) development at ING NL. In collaboration with global on the strategy, you will lead the execution of career growth and development for ING NL. You will play a pivotal role in the global project team of building an ING University and partner locally with our  (Domestic Bank) NL Leadership Team and HR Director NL on building industry relevant capabilities.  

As  NL based Growth & Careers lead you will:    

  • Partner with our global team on the development of our ING career philosophy and “offer” for employees. Shape a first-class employee experience related to career development, by providing employees access to engaging, effective career management tools, and the opportunity to develop a more diverse portfolio of skills. All linked to what is needed to deliver organizational growth and performance aligned to ING’s strategic objectives.  

  • Lead the diagnosing, development and implementation of strategic solutions to upskill and reskill as business needs change. Guide our investment in skill development by identifying the skills we need to achieve our business strategy and where in the organization these skills are most needed.  

  • Contribute to establishing creative and scalable approaches to close current and future skills gaps across the organization. 

  • Monitor effectiveness and impact in order to continuously improve our growth & career development offerings. Drive the next phase of existing capability building programs, tracking momentum and impact on alumni across diverse business lines and functions within the Netherlands.  

  • Collaborate with global Growth & Careers peers on Leadership Development, redesigning our leadership curriculum, programs and tools to equip leaders at key transition points.   

  • Partnering closely with your Talent Management & Leadership peers who will own the design of an updated leadership capability framework to reflect the expectations of leadership leaders ING today, you will design and implement the effective, engaging leadership development approach based on these requirements. 

  • Drive the vision and execution of building a performance culture at ING NL.  

  • Ensure our Growth & Careers vision and solutions are aligned and engrained with principles and targets of Diversity & Inclusion, partnering with our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging & ESG lead on the team. 

  • Ensure a consistent employee experience is delivered through our broader Growth & Career team, by operating as a thought partner to our global colleagues representing a strong country voice to ensure our local consumer needs are incorporated in ING global solutions.  

  • Take ownership for building, recommending and sustaining partnerships with leading external partners, ensuring business relevance, demonstrable outcomes, quality and value for money.  

  • Act as a strategic business partner to our HRBP community and business leaders on all talent development and career growth matters, including the establishment of a performance culture.  

  • Continually engage and upskill the Netherlands, matrixed team who contribute to the success of talent development and career growth initiatives.

To play your part in our Growth & Career’s team succeeding you ideally bring:  

  • 8+ years’ professional experience with proven HR / Learning & Development success delivering business outcomes in a corporate matrix organization environment. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in effective talent & leadership development practices. Ideally paired with certification(s) in coaching and/or recognized development instruments.  

  • Demonstrated expertise in Learning & Development capabilities (such as: data collection and analyses, building capability, user experience, (digital) learning ecosystem and program design, information & business advice, building strong relationships with third party vendors)

  • Significant project and program management experience with ability to  balance multiple projects in various stages of design and delivery. 

  • Drive Growth & Career goals through program management and defined project plans, including managing implementation of all activities, and developing processes, tools, metrics and communications for rollout and ongoing support. 

  • Affinity with numbers and data and a good understanding on how data analysis and reporting support building better people solutions. 

  • Strong relationship skills; ability to build rapport with stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds and at varying levels of seniority including sensitivity and affinity with Work council and Union legislation & discussions. 

  • Experience managing and being accountable for a learning budget.
