The opportunity

COO Risk sits right at the heart of the Bank’s operations. We translate our rather complex banking business exposures into impact on risk weighted assets and provisions in line with the constantly changing business desires and the latest regulatory requirements. We also provide important insights in NFR and Compliance topics and cater for corresponding regulatory reporting needs. COO Risk delivers baseline and change activities for the Risk Organization with the purpose to drive our partners to maximize value in a safe & compliant environment. We play a critical role at ING and service all business lines, CROs and COOs of the Bank. COO Risk is committed to take explicit ownership of the end-to-end execution of regulatory transformation initiatives.

To deliver on these ambitious promises, we are looking for a Product lead who has an end-to-end strategic focus around our services and leads our squads in terms of clear prioritization, accountability and capabilities. The Product Lead is a position where all elements of a product come together, the what and the how, with an end-to-end transformation responsibility. You work not only on develop, implement and maintain a product, but also on creating a vision on how we improve our services, how we manage the business value and how we increase collaboration across functions.

You do that by steering squads who work on a specific purpose by providing them with a strategic direction, by coaching them on the job, defining the product roadmap and by managing stakeholders. The people who work in the squads report either hierarchically or functionally to you, which means it is your job to empower them to thrive and perform at their best. You set direction, you help them to develop their craftsmanship and you have continuous conversations about their career development. As a Product Lead you report hierarchically to the Tribe Lead.

Global services on NFR & Compliance reporting within COO Risk domain will focus on converting data into information via delivery of ready-for-use NFR&Compliance data and management & regulatory risk dashboards. To create the data to be ready for use, not only extracting data from global or local systems in required, but also further advanced data processing is needed. This requires knowledge of the data sources, as well as understanding how the data will be consumed (such as modelling or reporting activities) and what policies and control frameworks apply.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Product Lead, you:

  • • Actively manage all internal parties and projects to successfully deliver upon the NFR&Compliance reporting initiatives
  • • Take ownership of a medium-sized number of explicit regulatory transformation initiatives
  • • Be the hierarchical manager of a team of up to 10 Business Analysts working in multiple squads
  • • Be able to work in a collaborative and highly complex setting, leveraging knowledge from multiple departments
  • • Be able to heavily influence other teams outside of your own area and COO Risk
  • • Able to take responsibility, steer strategy and realizations based on facts and data; managerial courage to question and make decisions for complex issues
  • • Build the craftsmanship of the employees in the team in line with the strategy of the Tribe
  • • Ensure compliance with relevant regulation and internal/external requirements

As a Product Lead, you will also need to be able to:

  • • Drive and manage change programs in an international context and master financial content of medium complexity
  • • Lead and deliver (multi-year) change programs of medium complexity on program level – covering multiple countries / functional departments
  • • Communicate effectively, in which you can adapt your style and the content of your communication to the needs of others you work with. You always pay attention to the input and opinions of others
  • • Be organizational savvy, you maneuver easily through complex policies, processes and people-related organizational dynamics across ING
  • • Look ahead, you show a strategic mindset and you find future opportunities which you can translate into concrete strategies and execution roadmaps
  • • Be tech savvy, where you anticipate and leverage innovations in digital and technical applications that make ING commercially stronger and more effective
  • • Build an effective team, that has diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals
  • • People management: being responsible for the inflow, progression, and outflow of employees of ‘your’ teams and playing an active role in the well-being and engagement of employees and the development of their craftsmanship

Your scope:

Within the NFR & Compliance reporting department, your focus will be on all demand coming from the NFR&Compliance stakeholders. This implies that you are responsible for building reporting solutions using the available BI platform solutions. Lastly, you will actively manage all internal parties to successfully deliver upon the initiatives coming from NFR&Compliance.

Required skills and experiences:

• Experience in Application Management and more precisely reporting solutions

• Proven experience in transformation programs with high impact and relevant change execution experience preferably with international exposure

• Experience in defining strategies and policies in order to set and deliver objectives within medium to long time frames

• Proficient expertise in driving and steering multidisciplinary initiatives

• A proven track record in process or product management, backlog management and resource planning, preferably using Agile delivery methodology.

• Experience in explaining complex issues in an easy-to-understand way to get people on board, including by using your strong analytical skills

  • Have a ‘can do’ mentality, proactive, resourceful, and willing to go the extra mile
  • Proven track record at management level and experience in Banking or other regulated industries
  • Education at University with a Master degree in a related study (e.g. Business Administration, Information Management, Finance)
  • An excellent level of English
