The mission

If you are passionate about building reliable and scalable software systems and have a strong background in architectural design, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our organization. You will develop, evolve, and maintain the reliability framework used by our Site Reliability Engineers, engineers, and architects to build a reliable technical foundation. Help new developments and existing assets with a very good foundation where all infrastructure, platforms and systems will work correctly and consistently as they are expected to.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Help design and refine the Well-Architected Framework with focus on the Reliability pillar.
  • Understand the Public and Private Cloud Service offering within ING and design generic Infrastructure Blueprints and Solutions for DevOps teams to adopt.
  • Actively participate in enhancing and refining monitoring infrastructure, leveraging modern practices and tools.
  • Writing, editing, organizing and reviewing architecture guidance.
  • Review SRE practices and enhance the alerting delivery and processing workflow.
  • Conduct well architected reviews on existing assets and foster good patterns while proposing better solutions where weaknesses are spotted.
  • Design pipelines to streamline and expedite the delivery of changes to the monitoring infrastructure.
  • Design the integration with ING’s “Engineering Platform” providing templates and golden paths for efficient scaffolding and automated conformity.
  • Operate in strong cooperation with involved Enterprise Architects, SREs & engineers
  • Contribute to documentation, training material, meetups and other ways to get the knowledge to our engineers and architects across ING

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Passionate about building reliable and scalable software systems and have a strong background in architectural design.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Software Architect and (10+ years) as a Software Engineer with a focus on reliability and system performance.
  • Knowledgeable about technology in all levels in the technology stack (from infrastructure to front-end) with expert knowledge & hands-on experience on one or more levels (e.g. front-end & back-end development or infrastructure & CI/CD tooling).
  • Strong affinity in writing technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, architecture patterns and emerging technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of architecture methodologies, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Expertise in implementing and managing reliability tools and frameworks.
  • Experience with incident response, root cause analysis, and preventive measures.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural patterns, microservices, and cloud computing.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
