Accounting Policies & Internal Controls Trainee

ING Luxembourg is looking for a trainee within its department « Accounting Policies & Internal Controls Trainee » on a 6-month internship contract agreed by the student’s school, starting from July 2024.

The Accounting& Policies Internal Controls Service oversees the smooth running of internal account monitoring & ensure the SOX compliance within the Bank is adequately operating. Daily points come along such as:

  • General accounting in accordance with Lux Gaap and IFRS norms (local and ING Group)
  • Following the requirements of the US’ law Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX404)
  • Legal and prudential reports (EBA, CSSF and BCL)
  • Finance & regulatory reporting
  • Monitoring of changes in accounting regulations

As an Accounting Policies & Internal Controls Trainee you will:

Maily work on two distinct subjects: Monitoring of SOX controls and processes across the Bank & Internal control monitoring in the Finance team

SOX Compliance:

  • Follow up on SOX controls throughout the bank,
  • Communicate with the different business teams of the bank to obtain quality information in due time,
  • Help with tracking, evidence, preparation of presentation to all SOX stakeholders.

Internal control:

  • Create and maintain accounting scheme in compliance with Group Accounting Policies,
  • Implement periodic internal control monitoring reviews on control design and operating effectiveness,
  • Coordinate with all the team across the bank to collect data on all ING owned Bank account and help with the follow up of the RCSA (Risk & Control Self-Assessment).

In general, we expect from our trainees to proactively seek opportunities for process improvements and elimination of non-value added work.

Your Profile :

Competencies :

  • Undergraduate university degree and are a postgraduate student (Master 1 or Master 2);
  • Ideally with already an successful internship in a big four;
  • General knowledge of the bank, its products and its processes;
  • Good knowledge in accounting, and in risks and internal control in general;
  • Perfect knowledge of  French and English;
  • Good knowledge of IT skills as Excel (VLookup, Pivot Table), Word and Power Point;

·         Strong analytical & thinking skills and able to work with autonomy;

·         Able to use new IT products and using them wisely;

·         Team player with good social skills and a strong communicator
