Purpose of role

The Metals, Mining and Fertilizers team provides coverage and structures solutions to the leading players in the sector. It is a dynamic global team operating from 6 offices in the Americas, EMEA, and Asia.

We are a business that is responsible for the origination, coverage as well as the execution of the majority of financing transactions in our sector. The key focus of the team is to use its sector knowledge to select and develop a client base where we can deploy the bank’s capital effectively with a view to originate high value mandates across the Bank’s product offering (including debt arranging, project finance/advisory, debt capital markets, financial markets, and sustainable financing).

Key Responsibilities

General responsibilities include:

  • Support the team on specific transactions and day to day duties.

  • Assist in identifying origination opportunities and monitoring market developments.

  • Contribute to the day-to-day management of client relationships.

  • Prepare high quality presentations and pitches to clients.

  • Prepare credit packages and process client reviews independently.

  • Build/test financial models, and perform financial analysis.

  • Provide input to market updates, long term commodity pricing and market views.

  • Review and negotiate transaction legal documentation.

  • Assist in deal execution.

  • Assist in the coordination of client due diligence (know-your-customer) process.

  • Handle the back end of client processes and transactions on a semi-independent basis.

  • Assist in managing and overseeing the lending portfolio.

Specific knowledge & skills

  • Degree holder preferably in Mining / Metallurgical Engineering / Geology

  • Accounting knowledge / CFA is preferred

  • Ideally a solid understanding of the Metals / Commodities/Energy sector/sub-sectors.

  • 3 years working experience in executing project/asset finance deals, including negotiating transaction documents.

  • 3 years of experience with commodity companies, steel sector or other

  • Strong financial, analytical (including Microsoft Excel modelling) and credit skills, with an eye for detail.

  • Integrity, motivation, drive, commitment and a “can do” attitude.

  • Strong self-starter able to work independently and to multi-task.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to operate sensitively in a multicultural environment (internally and externally).

  • Ability to contribute and deliver on complex transactions and under challenging deadlines.

  • Flexible with working hours and willing to travel for business (primarily within Asia).
