The TMT & Healthcare sector cluster with ING Wholesale Banking has the mandate to develop wholesale banking business for ING in these two sectors globally. The sector team is responsible for developing business with clients in these sectors by providing wholesale banking solutions including financing, advisory services, financial market solutions, transaction services and other products & services to clients through its teams based in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas. In the Asia Pacific region, the team is hubbed out of three locations – Singapore, Hong Kong and Sydney

We are seeking to recruit a senior and seasoned sector banker with well-established client relationships at Director/Managing Director level who would enjoy working in an established and successful team.  You will be a self-starter and work closely with existing team members (total of 15 including the Head), and with other teams within the bank.

The role requires an experienced banker who can work with little or no supervision.  We are responsible for sector client coverage, leading debt financings for our clients which can often be structured and complex and coordinating all cross-buy efforts on other products. Prior TMT/Healthcare sector experience, a good credit grounding, and a knowledge of other wholesale banking products is essential.  Given the seniority of the role, the individual would be expected to have the capability, experience and gravitas to engage at the C-suite level with clients, be deal team leader on selected transactions as required, coordinate with other stakeholders and also contribute effectively to the growth strategy for the sector/region.

Key Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate is expected to formulate client strategy and develop / manage client relationships in the TMT / Healthcare sectors, working with other team members, including product specialists, country coverage bankers and other stakeholders to help with origination of new business with clients, ongoing client relationship management, leading new deals including financings and monitoring / maintaining existing portfolio. The work envisaged encompasses leading origination efforts, assisting with deal structuring, credit analysis, taking a leadership role and guiding deal team members, leading internal approval process and legal documentation as required, and coordinating with relevant product teams to deliver multi-product solutions to clients and achieving cross-buy and return objectives.

  • Identification, development, and maintenance of close relationships with clients as primary contact. Coordinating the development of presentation material and pitches to clients leading to new mandates. 

  • Helping achieve sector income, fee, cross-buy and return targets, and achieving other KPIs including on distribution, sustainable finance, NPS and OHI.

  • Providing direction and leadership to an experienced team of bankers, including ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Overseeing client marketing and transaction origination & execution, taking a lead role when required.

  • Identify and monitor developments and opportunities within the APAC TMT/Healthcare sectors. Continuously build knowledge on the sector, competitors, products, and macroeconomic trends/ issues and contribute to ING strategic initiatives.

  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring to team members, ensuring proactive performance and personal development to instill a strong performance culture and help achieve results.

Other important pre-requisites

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree holder in Business/Finance or other relevant disciplines

  • At least 15-20 years of investment / corporate banking experience (or other relevant field).

  • Thought leader in the TMT sector and established client relationships across Asia Pacific

  • Experience in structuring, credit & deal execution in TMT transactions in corporate/investment banking.

  • Experience in cross-selling other products like financial markets, DCM, M&A advisory and transaction services

  • Strong analytical, presentation, leadership and communication skills.

  • An effective team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • High level of self-motivation
