Your role and work environment:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Associate to join our Commodities, Food & Agri Team of Wholesale Banking.  The role is based in Madrid, where the CF&A team is mainly focused on Food, Beverage and Agribusinesses, covering the whole food value chain.

The responsibility of this team is to provide financing solutions and advisory services to our clients and our way of working is in very close cooperation with other departments of the bank, leveraging our sector expertise and network.

Your key responsibilities:

As a Senior Associate you will:

Positively contribute to developing existing client relationships and originate new mid-sized, large, and multinational corporate clients in the sector in Spain & Portugal

Identification and origination of cross-selling opportunities across the full range of the Bank’s offering of lending, financial markets, transaction banking and advisory products

Engage and coordinate senior management and product teams support client commercial, underwriting and credit proposals and execute client strategy plans

Monitoring developments and opportunities within the Commodities, Food & Agri sector. Continuously build knowledge on the sector, competitors, products, and macroeconomic trends/ issues and contribute to ING strategic initiatives.

Co-create Structure/Negotiate/Implement/Monitoring credit portfolio together with lending colleagues and/or in collaboration with inhouse Legal Department or external legal counsel

Ensure successful end to end execution of transactions (from pitching to documentation) and assist in the coordination of client due diligence (know-your-customer) process

The ideal candidate should be an ambitious professional with a Masters’ degree with above-average academic grades and at least 4 years of experience in banking, financial services and/or strategic consultancy

The candidate should have sound financial analysis and problem-solving capabilities; and excellent speaking and writing skills in Spanish and English is a must. In addition, we expect the candidate to have the following key personal skills:

• Strategic thinking skills, with ability to synthesize broad information quickly and cogently and to drive multiple activities in parallel
• Strong results orientation, comfortable with driving financial performance
• Ability to work collaboratively across functions (team player)
• Strong client focus and proven ability in stakeholder management (both internally and externally)
• Enthusiasm and ambition to learn.

The candidate should show genuine interest in the Food, Beverage and Agri sector and have the ability to earn trust and respect of clients, colleagues and senior management.
