About the position:

This is a senior lending professional role within the front office. As player-coach, you will carry primary responsibility for some of the key processes related to lending transactions, along with guiding a team of junior bankers that execute new lending transactions and works closely with the client relationship managers – Directors and Managing Directors - and sector experts to originate new lending transactions.  You will work most closely with the Energy team, which is part of ING Global Sector Coverage to cover traditional and renewable power generation, including storage and you will work with other sector teams as well.  In this role, you will be responsible for: New Deal Origination / Execution: Execute new business in two or three sectors with an emphasis on Renewables & Power.

Responsibilities :

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing presentation materials for new financing opportunities
  • Initial deal screening/selection and risk analysis, writing greenlight memos.
  • Performing due diligence, credit applications and ancillary documents.
  • Reviewing and/or negotiating financing documents and material project agreements.
  • Capital structuring or M&A transactions in the energy sector as well as assisting and managing the onboarding of clients/ borrowers, KYC, credit, industry & market analysis.
  • Building return and project finance debt models from scratch, and internal risk rating models.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • 6 + years of relevant project/corporate finance experience ideally in the North American power industry
  • Active Series 79/63 or eligibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or Math; MBA is a positive
  • Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities, including strong Excel skills and ability to independently work on financial debt projection models.
  • In-depth knowledge of the power and renewables project finance industry, including a healthy degree of familiarity with financing structures, tax equity, etc.
  • Knowledge of, or high degree of interest in, any of the following industries: TMT, Real Estate, Trade & Commodity Finance, Investment Industry Finance, Infrastructure, Financial Institutions, Export Finance, Asset Backed Lending and Food & Agriculture
  • Ability to manage, motivate and mentor junior staff members.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities, that involve managing multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  • Committed and dedicated team player, self-motivated high quality/high quantity producer
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; detail-oriented and accurate
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong understanding of key financial markets and products
  • Understanding of corporate and bankruptcy law

Salary Range: $180,000 - $230,000
