Marius Florea

What keeps you motivated in your work?
It's the idea that I will come up with a clever solution to something by the end of the sprint, one that everyone will find useful and meaningful.

And if you were to drop the ball?
I'd make it harder for the rest of the team. How can we tackle challenges or build solutions if we don't all give the same focus? It's a good thing I work with professionals, and we can always rely on each other.

Can you dismantle a myth about your job?
"Oh, you work for a bank, you probably know all about financial stuff". In reality, it's mostly coding, analysis, and having fun.

Where do the stars fit it?
I'm passionate about astrophotography and have my own fully automated astronomy imaging setup. I've always been a builder and fixer, someone who wanted to create and automate things, so my job fits like a glove.

How are you supported to bring your best self to work and retain the stamina for your personal life?
Working from home is a huge benefit, it's highly rewarding and sought after. I value time spent with my colleagues and cherish the moments when I'm with my family.

I try to be a good father and a good husband and, whenever I can, I photograph the universe and explore the unknown. But I'm into photography in all its forms, and it's a hobby I share with my wife. So I'd say I'm fortunate enough to lead a full life.

What do you bring to the team and how do you see them?
Besides technical skills, I add empathy, good laughs, and support. ING Hubs Romania is where I've spent most of my professional life and formed long-lasting friendships. It's where I was able to evolve to where I am now, and one of the reasons is that the work environment and culture felt like a match from day one. I'm happy to report that we continue to click.
