As Talent Management & Leadership Lead you’ll be a key leader within our Talent & Learning Netherlands team, helping to build a culture of growth and inclusion through bank-wide leadership development solutions and experiences that support a performance culture at ING. 

The team  

ING Netherlands' Talent & Leadership team is part of the broader Talent & Learning CoE, that ensures we can attract, develop, engage and retain the most talented people and help them grow and develop with ING. The Talent & Leadership team enables ING’s business strategy by facilitating the development of our (future) leaders, ensuring they- and ING- are resilient and future-proof.  

The broader Talent & Leadership team brings together different expertise areas in an integrated way on talent identification, talent acquisition strategy, leadership selection, leadership pipelining & succession. This team will also define requirements and own our capability framework of ING leaders.  Your peer in the Growth & Careers team then picks up the development side, owning the design and execution of leadership development programs and approaches. This combined team and collaboration will bring strong focus on the identification, attraction and management of key talent segments and a robust pipeline of diverse, global ING leaders for our future. 

Reporting to our Talent & Learning CoE Lead Netherlands and functionally into the Global Head of Talent & Leadership, you will also be working closely with the Global Head of Growth & Careers with whom you will partner on the leadership, as well as the HRBP community and senior leaders in the Netherlands.  

Roles and responsibilities  

In partnership with the global Talent & Leadership (T&L) team, you will articulate and update leadership requirements, which will be used in all talent management practices like the identification of emerging leaders in our talent reviews and targeted leadership succession readiness for the Netherlands. 

You will:   

  • Translate business strategy into talent requirements and localize the global Integrated Talent Management strategy.  

  • In collaboration with the global T&L team, develop a vision on what it means to be a leader at ING. Reset our leadership capability framework, so leadership expectations are clear and reflect the reality of ING now and in the future.  

  • Own the customization of leadership development programs that differentiate ING leaders in the industry by building leadership capability at key transition points. Apply appropriate solutions to build and enhance leadership bench strength, including assessment, talent acquisition, accelerated development.  

  • Partner closely with your peer in Growth & Careers who will bring this to life through the design and execution of leadership development programs and approaches including targeted development strategies for key talent segments. Represent a strong and expert voice in the collaboration with our global T&L CoE during the design phase of global leadership approaches. 

  • Represent a strong and expert voice in the collaboration with our global Talent & Learning CoE during the design phase of global leadership programs and Talent Management strategies and solutions.  

  • Ensure our Talent & Leadership vision and solutions are aligned and engrained with principles and targets of Diversity & Inclusion, partnering with our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging & ESG lead on the team. 

  • Drive talent & leadership goals through program management and defined project plans, including managing implementation of all activities, and developing processes, tools, metrics and communications for rollout and ongoing support. 

  • Act as a strategic business partner, thought leader and adviser on all Talent Management and Leadership matters to the HRBP community in the Netherlands. 

How to succeed

  • 8+ years’ professional experience with proven Talent Management & Development / HR success delivering business outcomes in a corporate matrix organization environment. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in building successful leadership capability frameworks in a multinational and corporate environment. In addition, bring a proven track record of setting and bringing to life an integrated Talent Management strategy through C-level leaders and HRBPs, having lead talent review sessions and coach and equip leaders with actionable insights as an outcome of these sessions.  

  • Must have experience in one and preferably two Talent & Learning CoE areas e.g.: Learning & Development, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Career Development, DIB & ESG, Talent Acquisition. 

  • Significant project and program management experience with ability to balance multiple projects in various stages of design and delivery.  

  • Affinity with numbers and data and a good understanding on how data analysis and reporting support building better people solutions. 

  • Strong relationship skills; ability to build rapport with stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds and at varying levels of seniority including sensitivity and affinity with Work council and Union legislation & discussions. 

  • Practical experience of building strong relationships with third party vendors in area of expertise. 

  • Experience managing and being accountable for a budget.  

  • Excellent written and orally communication skills (business English) in order to bring a compelling story and engage stakeholders on new or existing people solutions.
