Forerunners

Thirty ING colleagues from the Netherlands and Belgium will push themselves to their sporting limits to compete in the Ocean Lava Triathlon at the end of October in Lanzarote. The ‘Forerunners’ will cover the Olympic distance: 1.5 km of swimming, 42 km of cycling and 10 km of running.

And no, they’re not all necessarily top athletes. Although some of them have done triathlons before, others are complete novices. But what they do have in common is their unwavering motivation and their desire to lead an active and healthy lifestyle – because life’s simply better when you’re fit. In late October, the ‘Forerunners will finally see the results of all their efforts!

Sarah, Hilde and Khalid provide insights into why they signed up for the triathlon and their preparations for it – from worn-out running shoes and training during the lockdown, to a cycling addiction and cravings for chocolate milk.
