After 17 years, it's fair to say that I feel good here.

What is your main role as a private banker?

The relationships we have with our clients are very deep and personal. That is quite unique and necessary to offer them the best possible service. It’s important to know their personal and professional situation.

Above all, we are there to listen to the client and build a personal connection. The aim is to really be their confidant, a trusted advisor who offers tailor-made proposals that meet all their needs and create impact for them.

Is it a solitary job?

You have individual goals to achieve, that's for sure. But you have a whole team behind you and you can count on ING to support you in everything. And of course, there is something we call the orange code. It’s our culture.

If you need help or knowledge that you don't have yourself, you can count on expert people throughout the entire organisation. Everyone is happy to help you and share what they know. Even when you meet them for the first time.

How important are numbers in your job?

Very important. Before a meeting with your client, you need to analyse the report of their portfolio. And in my case as a corporate private banker, also the company's balance sheet. So you have the ability to apply the right touches, ask questions and provide answers.

The advantage of being part of a universal bank like ING is that you can lean on a lot of experts: insurances, business lending, investments, mortgages, etc. You can say we have a 360° view of their patrimony. It’s a key strength of ING.

Is there also a learning culture?

You learn an enormous amount every day on the job. Additionally, there is an extensive training path. The great thing is that you can tailor that path to your needs and interests. It's a matter of pulling out the right drawer at the right time, so to speak.

ING pays a lot of attention to your personal development. You will attend conferences, do a lot of networking. It's a mix that keeps you abreast of what's going on in life and in your market.

What makes you proud to work in private banking at ING?

Our personal connection with the client and also the level of personalisation we offer. We are the only private bank who has both the power of a universal bank and the freedom to deliver independent advice of the best investment solutions worldwide.
