Engineering Manager ING Pricing Architecture

Competitive Pricing Area, part of the FM&GT Tribe, seeks an enthusiastic, hands-on Engineering Manager (we call the role Chapter Lead), with a solid Software Development background, willing to lead and inspire engineers to get the most out of their talents and advance the Area.

Competitive Pricing is a dynamic and contemporary workplace for a diverse leader who enjoys technical and functional challenges. You will work closely with your IT Area Lead and other Chapter Leads in the Area and product owners to ensure that platform and applications using it are stable, and engineers are always ahead of the curve.

The opportunity and teams

As Development Chapter Lead, you will play a crucial role leading Software developers for ING Pricing Architecture platform (IPA).

IPA is fully in-house developed platform that aims to centralize pricing and risk calculations for Financial Markets (FM) department of ING, and beyond. It is a global platform, used in all ING FM locations, and is developed and supported by multiple squads in Amsterdam, Belgium, Singapore and India.

As Chapter Lead, you will additionally participate in Tribe and Area efforts.

Roles and duties

50% of your time will be devoted to empowering, coaching, and motivating your chapter of six to ten individuals. Your responsibilities in that part will include making sure that craftmanship and engineering capacity is matching the demands put forward by business, represented by Product Owner.

The remaining 50% of your time will be spent as Software Developer yourself in a squad supporting the tribe's larger endeavors. You will have to work on individual stories, for example, onboarding new market data for new asset classes (e.g. commodities, crypto), but also setting strategic course for applications owned by your team, making sure they are scalable, can support real-time use cases, all while preventing accumulation of technical debt.
