The Opportunity

Capital and Liquidity Expertise Centre (CLEC) plays a central role in the execution of the Wholesale Banking (WB) strategy, reporting directly to the Chief Transformation Officer. CLEC’s purpose is to drive value and compliance by converting complexity into business solutions. CLEC consists of 5 teams: (1) Delegated Model Owners, (2) WB Portfolio Tribe, (3) WB Capital Treasury, (4) Analytics & Pricing and (5) Funding & Liquidity

Role and responsibilities

WB Capital Treasury (WB CT) is relatively novel to ING and is pivotal in the realization of the WB Capital Velocity ambition. WB CT has been established to steer WB portfolio towards optimal asset composition through planning, allocation and management of RWA to sectors and regions, as well as providing focus to ING asset distribution activities. In this role you will report to Head of WB CT.

As a WB CT team member you will:

  • Shape the future WB asset portfolio composition and profitability by taking into account broader WB and ING Group interests and aligning with senior stakeholders across entire Capital Velocity value chain
  • Provide insights into the portfolio; current trends, forecasts, impact analysis to sectors and lending community as well as to committees, such as a.o. WB Balance Sheet Committee, Portfolio Greenlight Committee, ALCO, Credit & Trading Risk Committee
  • Frame decisions re. WB RWA envelope allocation across sectors, products and regions; drive envelope review process and facilitate possible adjustments
  • Ensure transparency & understanding of WB RWA development across the bank; drive alignment with a.o. Delegated Model Owners, Group Treasury, Finance, Risk
  • Take an active role in loan distribution projects by (i) initiating transactions critical for achieving portfolio goals, (ii) providing WB portfolio assessment of initiatives, (iii) monitoring and reviewing success of distribution activities
  • Develop tools to deliver live insights into WB portfolio and providing WB RWA forecasts

Job requirements

We are looking for a candidate with the following knowledge and experience:

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Experience with ING credit risk data (Vortex advanced analytics) and SAS or intrinsic to learn SAS fast
  • Basic understanding of Lending IT system architecture from front to end (o.a. LoanIQ, Vortex, ValueReporter, MISOB) 
  • Understanding and knowledge of credit risk model methodology and key concepts (e.g. PD, EAD, LGD)
  • Affinity with credit risk regulations (CRR/CRD IV, EBA standards) and policies
  • Understanding of ING governance, understand basics of lending IT architecture
  • “Make it happen” mindset and track record
  • Top-down problem-solving skills, structuring skills, ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Good communicator – ability to take knowledge from experts, make complex simple and convey the message in a convincing way to stakeholders with very diverse backgrounds and at all levels in the organisation
  • Ability to bring E2E stakeholders and drive decisions outside of hierarchical sphere of influence
